No More Security Service in Cemeteries

In early January, the city administration abolished the use of security service in the Public Cemeteries (TPU) in the capital. According to Arifin Djauhari, Head of West Jakarta Parks and Cemetery Sub-Department, althought the security service in TPU was abolished, yet its existence remains required. Moreover, the TPUs have a large land like as Tegal Alur TPU in Kalideres.

Honestly, we really need the security personnel who can standby 24 hours. This is because there is an office and many local government assets in every TPU

In West Jakarta, there are 11 TPUs in which they require security service. Considering the TPU is quite extensive and is in a strategic location.

"Honestly, we really need the security personnel who can standby 24 hours. This is because there is an office and many local government assets in every TPU," stated Djauhari, Friday (1/9).

On the other hand, his sub-department is trying to file a fence construction in Tegal Alur TPU which has a width of 64 hectares.

"The fencing planned to be done this year. Moreover we had installed a marker and then continued with its construction. At this time, every TPU only has one guard and not assigned within 24 hours," he uttered.
